Kelsea Best
My name is Kelsea. My preferred pronouns are she, her, hers.
I am at Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geodetic Engineering and the City and Regional Planning section of the Knowlton School. I have a Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Science from Vanderbilt University and a B.S.E. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Princeton University. Before joining OSU, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Maryland in College Park. Woi Sok OhPostdoctoral ResearcherWoi Sok Oh works on how humans and environment interact and shape nonlinear sustainability. He uses quantitative tools from complex systems sciences, such as agent-based modeling, network analysis, and causal discovery in diverse topics. His recent focus was on understanding human migration/displacement and conflict in linkage to climate. At the OSU, he plans to study urban climate resilience and social inequity.

Cyenna Ulrich-CechGraduate StudentCyenna graduated from Cleveland State University with a BS in Environmental Science and a BA in Anthropology and is now pursuing a PhD in Environmental Science at The Ohio State University. She has always been interested in the complicated relationship between people and their environments. With her interdisciplinary background, Cyenna's research with Dr. Best focuses on climate-related challenges and disaster resilience among LGBTQIA+ populations throughout Ohio. In her free time, Cyenna loves to cook, read, and play any Legend of Zelda game or Stardew Valley.
